The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is here and it is bigger and better. This is the first time that mainstream cricket is making its way to the land of dreams: the USA. The 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup will be played in the USA and West Indies. Who would have thought that international cricket could be a main sport in New York? But, it’s happening.

The T20 World Cup 2024 started on June 2 and will run through till June 29. The tournament will be played across nine venues in two countries. This year’s World Cup is the biggest in the history of the tournament. A total of 20 teams will be taking part in this year’s event, the most for any T20 World Cup thus far.

Co-hosts USA and their neighbours Canada started off the T20 World Cup on June 2 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Both teams were playing in a T20 World Cup for the first time. India and Pakistan, meanwhile, played a game in New York.

But with 20 teams taking part, how are the T20 World Cup 2024 groups divided? The 20 teams are divided into four groups. Each group has five teams and play each other once in the league stage. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 stage. In the Super 8, the teams will be further divided into two groups each of four teams with the top two from each group advancing to the semi finals.

Group A: India, USA, Pakistan, Canada, Ireland

Group B: Australia, England, Scotland, Namibia, Oman

Group C: West Indies, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Uganda, Papua New Guinea

Group D: South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Nepal

Let’s talk in detail about every group, the key players and who made it through to the Super 8 stage.
