Mahela Jayawardene – 111 fours in 31 matches, Sri Lanka

The former Sri Lanka captain had a sparkling career and he often reserved his best for the T20 World Cup. He played 31 matches in the tournament overall from 2007 to 2014 and hit 111 fours, the most. In all, he has scored 1016 runs in the competition, which also included 25 sixes at an average of 39.07. He was also part of the Sri Lanka side that won the T20 World Cup in 2014, beating India in the final.

Virat Kohli – 104 fours in 31 matches, India

The former Indian captain and current King of cricket, Virat Kohli is second on this list with 104 fours in 31 matches. He has also hit 29 sixes and continues to go strong. He first played in the T20 World Cup in 2012 and is a critical member of the Indian side for the T20 World Cup 2024. He also heads the list of run-getters in the tournament with 1170 runs at 65.00 which includes 14 fifties.

Tillakaratne Dilshan – 101 fours in 35 matches, Sri Lanka

The Sri Lanka opener was a beast at the top of the order for Sri Lanka in the shortest format of the game. In 35 matches at the T20 World Cup, he smashed 101 fours and 20 sixes. He played in the tournament from 2007 to 2016 and overall scored 897 runs at an average of 30.93.

Rohit Sharma – 97 fours in 43 matches, India

The current Indian captain is only one of two players to have played all the editions of the T20 World Cup thus far. He came into the side in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007 and hit a number of fours right in the first season. In all, he has hit 97 fours in 43 matches for India and counting. He has so far struck 1039 runs while averaging 33.51 and has also hit 10 fifties. Rohit was part of the Indian side that lifted the T20 World Cup back in 2007.

David Warner – 97 fours in 38 matches, Australia

The Australian opener has been a consistent performer for Australia right from the start. In 38 matches, Warner has hit 97 fours and 37 sixes as well. In all, Warner has 922 runs to his name at an average of 25.61 and a strike rate of 134.79. He was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2021 in Dubai. Warner will retire from the T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Jos Buttler – 80 fours in 32 matches, England

The England captain is the next name on this list. He has already scored 80 fours in 32 matches at the T20 World Cup to go with the 36 sixes. He led the England team to World Cup glory in 2022 and has been an integral part of their unit. In all, Buttler has struck 890 runs in 32 matches in the tournament at a healthy average of 40.45 which includes four fifties and a century.

Chris Gayle – 78 fours in 31 matches, West Indies

How can Chris Gayle’s name not be there on the boundaries list? The West Indies powerhouse played in the T20 World Cup from 2007 to 2021 and smashed 78 fours in 31 matches. He also hit 63 sixes, which is the most for any batsman. Gayle was part of the West Indies team that won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016 and in total, he hit 965 runs at an average of 34.46.

Shakib Al Hasan – 73 fours in 40 matches, Bangladesh

The former Bangladesh captain is the other player to have played in all editions of the T20 World Cup thus far from 2007 to 2024. He has struck 73 fours in 40 matches and counting and also hit 23 sixes. Shakib Al Hasan has scored 834 runs in the T20 World Cup at an average of 24.52 with four fifties to his name.

Kane Williamson – 71 fours in 29 matches, New Zealand

The former New Zealand captain has been a consistent run-getter for New Zealand across all formats of the game. In 29 matches at the T20 World Cup, he has scored 71 fours and 14 sixes. He has 727 runs at an average of 31.60 with three fifties.

Brendon McCullum – 67 fours in 25 matches, New Zealand

Brendon McCullum played three editions of the T20 World Cup between 2007 and 2014 and that was enough for him to prove his worth. He smashed 67 fours in 25 matches along with 19 sixes. In all, he scored 637 runs while averaging 28.95 which includes two fifties and a power packed century against Bangladesh.
